Our bespoke models are named Sakura in reference to the delicate and symbolic cherry blossoms of Japan. Every year, from March through to May, people in Japan gather to witness their beauty, enjoying a tradition that spans centuries. The sakura are intrinsically woven into Japanese history and culture, symbolising the fleeting nature of life—an idea captured by the wabi-sabi philosophy. This philosophy, which translates to ‘less is more’ and ‘attentive melancholy,’ teaches us to embrace imperfection, impermanence, and the beauty in simplicity.
"Hanami" is the age-old practice of celebrating the cherry blossoms by holding feasts or gatherings under the trees. Originally a custom reserved for the elite of the Imperial Court, it soon spread to the samurai and, by the Edo period, to the common people. In an effort to encourage this tradition, the shogun Tokugawa Yoshimune planted cherry blossom trees in various locations, fostering a shared experience of beauty and community. Families, friends, and even strangers came together under the delicate pink canopy, eating, drinking sake, and cherishing the moment.

While the landscapes of Japan may not yet be filled with cherry blossoms, we have chosen to release our Sakura pink models early, embracing the subtle but undeniable shift in the seasons. Even in the depths of winter, as the cold lingers, the lengthening days remind us of change—a slow but certain promise that spring will arrive. The seasons themselves, ever-changing and cyclical, are a poignant reminder that each phase of life is transient. In acknowledging their passing, we learn to celebrate them.
Of course, you don’t need a deep connection to symbolism to appreciate the beauty of pink. Sometimes, it’s okay to love a colour simply because it’s vibrant and joyful - this tone is bold, uplifting, and full of warmth. It also happens to be my favourite colour, and what better way to celebrate something than by surrounding ourselves with the hues that bring us joy?

Beyond their connection to nature’s transitions, our Sakura pink models also serve as a meaningful and symbolic gift for Valentine’s Day. Relationships, whether lifelong or fleeting, are often marked by contrasts—the warmth of connection, the chill of distance, the shifting moods of winter and spring. Yet, at their heart, the best relationships are the ones that make us feel at home. Like the cherished tradition of hanami, where people come together to celebrate beauty and change, love too is about presence, appreciation, and the joy of sharing moments, however temporary they may be.
With this in mind, our Sakura pink models offer a heartfelt way to honour love, home, and the fleeting but beautiful moments we share with those who matter most. Whether as a gift for a loved one or a symbolic reminder of the ever-changing seasons, they capture the essence of connection and celebration—just as the cherry blossoms have done for centuries.
Just like the cherry blossoms, our Sakura models are only available in Spring, and last orders for delivery in time for Valentines day are 2nd February. So don't delay, order yours here!
