Every great venture begins with a personal story, and Made:Small is no exception. Our founder, Chloe, embarked on this heartfelt journey when her grandparents decided to move from their family home—a place rich with memories and stories spanning decades.
Chloe’s grandparents moved to their home in the mid 60’s, and in the following decades, raised three boys there. Eight grandchildren followed in the 90’s, filling the house with silly jokes, chocolate digestives and Nickelodeon TV. The family also welcomed two rescue rough collies—one during the boys' childhood to join in the bustling household, and the other later when Grandad wanted company for his post-retirement walks. At Christmas, the extended family of 16 would squeeze into this modest 3-bed mid-terrace for a huge dinner. In this way, the simple bricks and pebbledash became a cosy haven to their grandchildren (apart from that one Halloween trick or treat mishap, but that’s a story for another time…!)
As they left this familiar space for a new chapter in their lives, Chloe wanted to create something special, something that would allow them to hold onto the essence of their cherished home.
With her background in architecture and love of a hand-made gift, Chloe decided to make a miniature model of their house. She meticulously captured every aspect, from the characteristic building features to the lovingly tended gardens. It was a way to honour the countless moments her grandparents had spent within those walls and to ensure they could carry a piece of their home with them, wherever life took them next.

The miniature house became a beloved keepsake, a tangible connection to a place that had been the backdrop of so many significant moments. It was then that Chloe realised the power of these small-scale models that encapsulate the spirit of a home.
Inspired by this experience, Chloe founded Made:Small. Her goal was to offer others the chance to preserve the memories of their own homes, whether they were moving, renovating, or simply wanting a unique keepsake. Each model is crafted with the same attention to detail and passion that Chloe put into her grandparents' model, capturing the unique character and charm of every dwelling.
